The Schreiner women’s soccer team received an early wake-up call in the form of a Sul Ross State goal by MacKenzie Attwood in the 5th minute of Sunday’s non-conference match.

From there though, the Mountaineers took over. Sophomore Kayla McConnell scored the tying goal off an assistant from sophomore Lindsey Fitz to make it 1-1. That goal came in the 33rd minute of play.

In the final minute before halftime, freshman Catalina Reyes took a feed from junior Laura Atzeni and scored the eventual game-winner. Neither team scored in the second half as SU preserved the win.

Freshman Jordin Toso went the whole game in goal and came up with five saves as SU out-shot the Lobos 27-8 overall.

The Mountaineers now enter SCAC play when the squad hosts the University of Dallas at Mountaineer Soccer Field Friday at 4 pm.
