The Kerrville City Council approved a plan on Wednesday that would provide 33 acres of city-owned property to homebuilder Lennar. In turn, Lennar is expected to build a minimum of 125 homes priced between $185,000 and $227,000. The City Council says workforce housing is an important priority. What do you think?

The need is great. The average price home in Kerr is $300,000 with the median household income being $50,000. The city has looked at other options in the past that haven’t planned out. Local builders are not this affordable. It should not be cheaper to live in a large city than it is in Kerrville. Apartments are filled up, and working people can’t find affordable houses. Lennar is a well known builder with good homes. I think this is the best move the city could find.
