A 20-month-old girl drowned Sunday in the Guadalupe River after the kayak she was in overturned, the sheriff confirmed Monday.

Th child’s body was recovered at about 6:30 p.m. Sunday and the incident happened on the Guadalupe River between Hunt and Ingram. The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department is investigating.

So very very sad for the toddlers family ☹️But why on earth was that sweet baby girl not wearing a life jacket? There has been no info on whether she was or wasn’t but I figured had she the adult around her would’ve been able to reach for her immediately

Cuz I don’t believe the current was flowing that fast
