This poll suggests a majority, or at least a large segment of participants think the Kerr County Commissioners are not doing a good job. What are the reasons for this? I cannot speak for others, but the big picture in my view is that we have a county with a radically changing culture and a dinosaur CC that is not equipped to deal with 21st century issues. Culture drives politics, in my opinion. A good place to start in a “horseback view” of County management is a 2005 study conducted by the late Commissioner Dave Nicholson, one of the only Commissioners to run on a reform platform in recent memory. Nicholson identified some substantive issues which in my opinion fall squarely within the confines of Texas Boss Rule. What has changed in the last 15 years? Has it gotten worse?
