In case you missed it, the “State agency lauds city for finance transparency” article appeared on page 5A, in the Thursday, May 2, 2019 edition. With all the criticism and false claims directed at our city’s finance department, Amy Dozier, and Mark McDaniel regarding the Kerr County Appraisal District tax notices and Kerrville’s debt, I found this article news worthy. It would have been appropriate to place good news about our city staff front page and center, above the fold.

I am disappointed many likely missed an opportunity to see our city staff in the news with all the good work they do. They work hard for our taxpayers and businesses bringing the issues and information to light at council meetings, open houses, informal events, State of the City events, and their day-to-day interactions with citizens in and around town.

Our city’s website and regular staff reports allow anyone with the interest to follow the city’s workings, with the details of what is going on, here in Kerrville. I am glad staff has received the accolades to acknowledge their good work.
