I have heard lots about the increases in property valuations. I have one property that the valuation went up 60 percent. I was a bit nervous to go talk to an appraiser.

I got to the Kerr County Appraisal District office and was promptly greeted and my protest paperwork was recorded. I brought a newspaper because I expected a long wait. Within 10 minutes, I was introduced to a senior appraiser. He listened to my concerns and after searching his computer, he discovered that my property had been incorrectly listed. He was very courteous and respectful and explained everything to me.

He made the adjustments and my taxes were lowered to what we agreed was a fair and reasonable level. I appreciate living in such an open and friendly city.

The people there are really nice and doing their job well.
