This is in response to a letter by Brenda Craig, published on May 3.

Hello Brenda, I don’t really know you. You certainly don’t know me.

Freedom of speech does not give you the right to disrespect, impugn or make false claims about a member of my family or anyone else, for that matter, in a public forum.

There was no need to repeat the amount of our campaign contribution to the candidate of our choice. It had already been published. You certainly had no right to announce our private home address.

To insinuate we are supporters of Francis “Beto” O ’Rourke, makes it obvious that you don’t know us. You had no right nor reason to gossip about our family in this manner.

I am ashamed of you, this newspaper and some citizens of this community, for allowing “Dirty Politics” to be the face of the new Kerrville 2050 Comprehensive Plan.

I pray that this type of character assignation is not the new normal for what once was a civil and Christian community.

“Do unto others as you would have them do unto you”.  — Luke 6:31 or Matthew 7:12

Bonnie Thompson Johnson, Kerrville
