The question of whether to increase property taxes in a certain zone to pay for the Center Point Volunteer Fire Department is closer to being included on the November ballot.
A petition to put the matter on the ballot was validated by the Kerr County Tax Assessor-Collector’s office. It contained 145 signatures, said Tax Assessor-Collector Bob Reeves during a Monday meeting of the Kerr County Commissioners Court. His office discarded 31 of the signatures because 13 were not of registered voters and 18 were not landowners within the proposed district. The petition required at least 100 signatures to be valid.
