The Museum of Western Art unveiled its latest acquisition Thursday as a part of a Kerrville Area Chamber of Commerce after hours event. The 12-foot bronze sculpture was already uncovered due to its size, but a giant red ribbon adorned the statue, ready to be cut to inaugurate it to the museum.
Artist T.D. Kelsey named it “Touching the Sun,” and with clear skies, the sun was certainly a part of the ceremony. Headed by Executive Director Darrell Beauchamp, a group of volunteers, board members and a curious public stood by as board member Judy Warnick did the honors of cutting the ribbon.
