Are your children already bored with summer vacation? Well, there’s good news.

The Kerrville Independent School District’s YMCA open gym program begins Monday at Antler Gym. The free open gym program will run throughout the summer on Monday through Friday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and is open to all ages. Kids younger than 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Activities include basketball, volleyball and weight lifting.

In other words, it’s a great way for children to burn off some of the pent-up energy that grows during the summer. Just ask Tivy student Council President and starting forward Will Johnston.

“It’s good way to get free access to a gym,” Johnston said. “I can work out alongside some of my friends. I’m able to lift weights, shoot some hoops and do things that would be difficult to do without having free access to the gym.”
