Peterson Health celebrated its 70th anniversary with the community at a free block party on Wednesday.

Peterson Regional Medical Center, the Cailloux Professional Building, the Ambulatory Care Center and the new Hospice Home Care building were open for tours that evening, and food and activities were offered at each facility. There also was a carnival on the back lawn.

Kerrville first responders were on hand to show off ambulances, EMS and fire trucks, as well as police department vehicles.

Started in 1949 as Sid Peterson Memorial Hospital in downtown Kerrville, the health care organization has grown and expanded to include several facilities.
