I love meeting new people and hearing their stories.

The best place to meet someone is on the golf course. The typical round lasts four hours and you are actually hitting the ball about 15 minutes, so the rest of the time is spent walking and talking.

There are not enough hours in the day to tell the wonderful stories of all the people I have met playing golf but I will tell you about Mr. Peschel. He was 90 years old and I met him at Pebble Beach where he lived along the fairway of the 4th hole. He was a delightful man with a quick wit and he looked like legendary golf teacher Harvey Penick.

Before we teed off, I asked him how he was playing. He said, “ It depends on how many cart paths I hit.” He then promptly took dead aim at the cart path and hit a 200 yard drive with the assistance of 100 yards of concrete. They say it takes a minute to find a special person, an hour to appreciate them but an entire life to forget them. Amen.
