Kerrville locals are invited to a preview party celebrating Playhouse 2000’s award-winning production of “The Pretty Trap” just two days before the company leaves to perform in this year’s national one-act play festival.
Playhouse 2000’s entry in the biennial AACT/Fest cycle earned the right to perform at the National Festival by advancing through the Region VI Festival in Midland earlier this month.
The ensemble of four actors, two technicians, one stage manager and their director will travel to Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, for AACTFest 2019, “America’s National Community Theatre Festival,” on June 17. They’ll take their place as one of only 12 groups invited to participate in the most prestigious event in the world of American non-professional theater, according to a spokesman for the event.
A send-off party is planned for 3 p.m. Saturday at The Cailloux Theater. Guests will enjoy pre-show hors d’oeuvres and wine, a preview of the award-winning performance and the chance to spend some quality time with the cast and crew.
Admission to the party is $25, which will be used to help fund the costs of sending the show to Gettysburg.
Contributions in support of the trip are gratefully accepted. Checks made out to Playhouse 2000 can be mailed to P.O. Box 290088, Kerrville, TX 78029.
