The Fredericksburg Theater Company announces the cast for the first production of their 23rd season, the musical “The Sound of Music,” which opens June 14.
The setting for “The Sound of Music” is Austria, 1938, on the eve of the Anschluss. The musical tells the true story of a young lady named Maria, who takes a job as governess to a large family while she decides whether to become a nun. Eventually, she falls in love with the children, and their widowed father, Captain von Trapp. The Captain is ordered to accept a commission in the German navy, but he opposes the Nazis. He and Maria must devise a plan on how to safely flee Austria with the children.

Cast as Young Postulants is Amber Royea, M.E. Wilkinson, Macy Parker. Cast as the Nuns are Carol Wills, Augusta Bolton, and Hollie Baker. Cast as is Nun and Fraulein Schweiger is Megan Wilome. Cast as the Herwegan Trio is Shelby Morton, August Bolton, Amber Royea. Cast as Neighbors to the Von Trapps and Guards are David Wilkinson, Caleb Dreyer, Miles Fluitt.
