“It’s A Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play” will be on stage in Ingram this month and the next.

The play will run from Nov. 22 to Dec. 8 Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m.

“It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play” is based on the classic holiday movie with a clever twist thrown in: the story is staged as a live radio broadcast. Actors portray numerous characters, and sound effects are done through Foley artists.

“It’s a Wonderful Life” is about the life of George Bailey, a generous and well-meaning man who has become too downcast and tired to continue living. It will take help from a lovable angel, Clarence, to show George what life would be like if he hadn’t been born. George must have a change of heart and understand the true spirit of the holidays.

“It is a ‘play within a play’ because at the same time that the actors are running a live radio broadcast of the beloved American classic tale, performing as the radio employees, they perform as the 25-plus characters in the story also,” said director Laura Tomerlin. “It is all very exciting, and if you don’t know the story, come experience it this holiday season.”
