Residents are invited to join Alex the Lion, Marty the Zebra, Melman the Giraffe, Gloria the hip hip Hippo and, of course, those plotting penguins as they bound onto the stage in the musical adventure “Madagascar,” which opens in Ingram on Friday.

Based on the DreamWorks animated motion picture, “Madagascar: A Musical Adventure” the show follows a group of animal friends as they escape from their home in New York’s Central Park Zoo and find themselves on an unexpected journey to the madcap world of King Julien’s Madagascar.

The show will run from Friday to June  29, Friday and Saturday nights at 8:30 p.m.

The music and lyrics are by George Noriega and Joel Someillan, and the production will be directed by Roslyn Houghton.
