Craig William Dirling
KERRVILLE — Craig William Dirling, 61, of Kerrville, passed away Saturday, Nov. 21, 2009, at his residence. He was born July 27, 1948, to William Edward Dirling and Dorothy Alice Pihl in Jamestown, N.Y. He married Rosemary Diemer on April 1, 1968, in Las Vegas, Nev. Craig was retired from the United States Army. He was a veteran of the Persian Gulf War and was awarded the Bronze Star Award. He was an avid sports fan and an avid sportsman. He loved the outdoors, family barbecues and telling stories. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. Survivors include his wife, Rosemary Dirling of Kerrville; mother, Dorothy Sturgeon of Kerrville; sons, Randy Dirling and wife, Eileen, of Kerrville, Craig Willard Dirling and wife, Elizabeth, of Killeen and David Dirling of Kerrville; brother, Steve Dirling of California; grandchildren, Alyssa, R.J., Julia, Kaley, Jordan and Ciena Dirling; niece, Jamie Dirling of California; brother-in-law, Frank Diemer of Washington; sisters-in-law, Marilyn Labarre of Oregon and Lorraine Brown of California. Visitation will be Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2009, from 5 to 7 p.m., at Grimes Funeral Chapels. Services will be Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2009, at 10 a.m., at Grimes Funeral Chapels, officiated by Frank Hancock. Graveside services will follow at 2:30 p.m., at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.
