Betty Gray Baehr
SAN ANTONIO — Betty Gray Baehr went to be with the Lord Oct. 24, 2009, at the age of 94, in San Antonio, Texas. Betty was born Jan. 21, 1915, in El Paso, Texas, to William and Josephine Casarez. She had a career that started late in life, while teaching sixth grade art classes in El Paso, she was asked to make up a lesson plan on copper enameling for the University of Texas at El Paso practice teachers program. She went on to expand her art into watercolors, oil and copper. When Betty and Dave retired to the Hill Country in Kerrville, Texas, she taught workshops at the Hill Country Arts Foundation. She also helped design and sew altar tapestries for Notre Dame Church, a job she cherished. Betty is survived by her children, David Gray and his wife, Pam, Jo Frances Hearon and her husband, Dub, Cecille Davis and her husband, Jeff, and Patricia Turner and her husband, Tom; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A visitation will be Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2009, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Colonial Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2009, at 1:30 p.m., at Notre Dame Catholic Church in Kerrville, Texas, with burial to follow at Garden of Memories in Kerrville, Texas.
