Man airlifted after chain saw accident

Published November 24, 2009

A Kerrville man was airlifted to University Hospital in San Antonio Monday night, following a chain saw accident.

The accident, which occurred in a remote wooded area off of Texas 16 near Interstate 10, forced a partial amputation of the man’s leg, according to paramedics at the scene.

The accident was reported shortly after 5 p.m. Monday. First responders from the Kerrville Fire Department and Kerr County Sheriff’s Office transported the man from the hill, where he’d been clearing brush, to Hal Peterson Middle School, where a helicopter was waiting to fly him to San Antonio.

The man was alert and conscious as paramedics loaded him into the helicopter.
