Raising the speed limit on a Center Point road and changes to the county’s holiday schedule are among the highlights of today’s Kerr County Commissioners Court agenda.
Commissioners meet today at 9 a.m. in the Kerr County Courthouse.
County road and bridge officials will present commissioners with a request to raise the speed limit on Skyline Driver in Center Point from 30 mph to 45.
Traffic counters recently placed on the road have shown that most of the traffic already is going at least 38 mph.
Commissioners will be asked to set a public hearing on the proposed speed limit increase.
County officials also will again be asked to look at how to handle this year’s primary elections, which fall on March 2, Texas Independence Day.
Tax Assessor/Collector Diane Bolin has asked that her office remain open that Tuesday for the party primary elections and that her employees be allowed to take an alternate day off for the holiday.
Earlier this month, Bolin had asked and was given permission to remain open Dec. 31, a scheduled county holiday, to allow people to pay their property taxes on the last day of the year.
Commissioners are expected to adjust the county’s holiday schedule to reflect the changes
