Antlers move down in state rankings

Published November 13, 2007

After a thrilling 30-27, win over the Boerne Greyhounds the Tivy Antlers moved up in the rankings to the No. 9 spot in the Associated Press 4A state poll.

Heading into the third quarter up 26-7 after touchdowns from Quincy Kibbet and Alex Jackson, the defending 4A state champion Alamo Heights Mules found a way to do the impossible.

The Mules ran off 27 unanswered points to crush the Antlers’ hopes at an undefeated season and a district championship in their 34-26 win on Friday. The loss pushed the Antlers down to the No. 13 spot in this week’s Associated Press 4A state poll after they only receieved six votes.

The Mules, who had only received one vote last week and were the 25th ranked team in the state, jumped up to the No. 12 spot.

The Harper Longhorns were bumped up to the No. 13 spot after smashing Leakey 45-0 on Friday. They were previously at the No. 16 spot.

The Longhorns meet Thorndale at 7:30 p.m. on Friday at Dripping Springs High School.

The Antlers face Lanier on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Alamo Stadum.

Both games are bi-district playoff games.
