Comfort boys 3-0 in district

BOYS

Harper 51, Rocksprings 44

HARPER — Freshman Jake Whitten put on a long-range bombing show Friday, nailing five 3-pointers to lead the Longhorns. Chris Martinez added 10 points as Harper improved to 8-3 overall and 2-0 in District 28-A.

“Someone different has led us every night,” ’Horns coach Billy Grumbles said. “None of us are particularly good, but each of us can do something good, and usually someone does that for us each night.”

Comfort 45, Mason 24

MASON — The Bobcats put the clamps on Mason and improved to 22-2 overall and 3-0 in District 8-2A. Juan Rodriguez scored 14 points while Antonio Blanco and Darin Smith added nine apiece for Comfort.

Johnson City 68, Medina 60

MEDINA — Ross Hambright scored a game-high 22 points to lead three Eagles to reach double-figures. Cole Carpenter led the Bobcats with 20 points, while Jamie Campbell and Colton Baker added 13 points apiece.

GIRLS

Wimberley 44, ITM 41

INGRAM — Wimberley converted a key three-point play in the closing seconds Friday to slip past the Warriors. Stephanie Davis scored 16 and Julie Taylor added eight for Ingram Tom Moore, which fell to

10-12 overall and 0-4 in District 25-3A.

Rocksprings 34, Harper 29

HARPER — Rocksprings shut the Longhorns down the final three quarters to hand them their first district loss of the season. Harper led 14-9 at the end of the first quarter, but managed just four more points in the first half. Jaci Crowe and Amelia Herring had eight points apiece to lead the ’Horns, who fell to 3-1 in District 28-A.

Medina 54, Johnson City 41

MEDINA — Leanna Rich scored 25 points and Kolby Jackson added 16 as the Bobcats bounced back from an early deficit to improve to 18-8 overall and 2-2 in District 28-A.

Mason 44, Comfort 35

MASON — Katie Poerner scored 14 points to lead the Deer, who fell to

9-15 overall and 0-5 in District 8-2A. Comfort hosts Brady on Tuesday.
