Driver wrecks, leaves vehicle to burn

Published October 6, 2009

A 35-year-old Kerrville man driving along Texas 39 between Ingram and Hunt was injured when he swerved to miss a deer and struck a tree.

The incident reportedly occurred at about 11 p.m. Sunday, but law enforcement wasn’t notified about the accident until about

6:30 a.m. Monday.

Once at the scene, they found the man’s vehicle had burned overnight and still was smoldering.

“It was a total loss,” said Kerr County Sheriff’s investigator Capt. Carol Twiss.

The man sustained non-life threatening injuries, but did require surgery. He was not burned in the incident.

The man’s parents, who reside about two miles from the scene of the wreck, transported him to the hospital.

No citations were issued.

Sheriff’s office and Texas Department of Public Safety personnel responded to the call.
