Library donates books to Bastrop

Unwanted books donated to sale for fire-ravaged community

Posted: Tuesday, December 20, 2011 6:48 pm

About 7,000 books and other media that haven't been checked out of the Butt-Holdsworth Memorial Library in at least four years are on their way to Bastrop, where they will be part of a sale to benefit that community's library.

The Bastrop public library was spared in a fire that started over the Labor Day weekend, but about 1,645 homes and thousands of acres were engulfed in the flames that spread for more than a month.
