Lightning sparks house fire

Lightning struck a house around 3 a.m. at the corner of Phoenix Drive and Saddle Club Drive in The Homestead subdivision and started a fire that engulfed the home. The lightning also blew out the circuit breakers in several homes nearby. A husband and wife were asleep in the house when lightning hit their garage.

According to firefighters at the scene, the man was awakened by the sound of thunder and went to check the condition of his home. When he checked his garage, he saw it was filled with flames.
